人 has 3 ways to be pronounced "hito", "nin", and "Jin" The first way "hito" is used when the character is being used as "man" The second way "nin" is used with a number. And the last way "jin" is used when it is talking about a nationality such as Japanese(日本人) jin will go at the end of the country's name.
